Kerry Godliman: Biography, Career, Personal Life & 2026 Tour

Few TV characters settled into viewers’ affections quite like Lisa, the sharp-tongued hairdresser in Ricky Gervais’ After Life. Kerry Godliman, the actor behind her, trained at Rose Bruford College and spent years building a stand-up career before that role brought her the widest audience of her career (elCinema (entertainment database)). Here’s what the public record actually shows about the rest of her life, and what the internet simply assumes.

Profession: Actress, comedian, writer ·
Notable roles: After Life, Derek, Bad Move ·
Real name: Kerry Anna Godliman

Six details separate the verified core of Godliman’s profile from the noise around it.

Who is Kerry Godliman’s partner?

This is the question that shows up most in people’s search history, and the honest answer is: no one knows. Godliman has not publicly identified a current partner, and her official bios steer clear of romantic details. The consistency of that silence is the only reliable pattern.

How old is Kerry Godliman?

• The key table above lists 17 November 1973 from IMDb.
• Godliman has not confirmed that date on her own channels.
• The safe answer is “early 50s as of 2026” — not an officially verified one.

How many children does Kerry Godliman have?

• The key table above lists two children.
• Their names and ages are not part of her public profile.
• Motherhood shows up in her stand-up material, where family life is a recurring theme.

Where does Kerry Godliman live?

• Public records place her in London, with a birthplace of Perivale, west London.
• She has not publicised a home address.

What is Kerry Godliman’s real name?

• Kerry Anna Godliman appears in the key table above.
• She performs under her real name, not a stage name.

The pattern: the absence of a public partner is itself the story. Fans get the work; the family stays off the poster.

What TV show made Kerry Godliman famous?

After Life is the short answer. The Netflix series gave her the role of Lisa, the wife whose recorded messages keep Tony going, and it made her face instantly familiar in the UK and beyond. Before that, she was already a recognised part of British comedy, with Derek and Bad Move on the CV.

What is Kerry Godliman’s background?

• She trained at Rose Bruford College and graduated in 1997 (The Scotsman (UK national newspaper)).
• Stand-up has been a constant throughout her career; it is also the form she keeps returning to between TV jobs.

That double track matters. Dramatic training gives her the restraint that makes Lisa feel real; live comedy gives her the timing that makes panel shows look easy.

The implication: her career is a loop, not a ladder. The TV roles raise her profile; the tour pays off the exposure.

Are Ricky Gervais and Kerry Godliman friends?

The professional answer is clear: Gervais cast her in Derek and then After Life, two of his most personal projects. She told The Scotsman that the controversy around Derek was “exasperating,” and that says more about the working relationship than any social-media post.

“The controversy was exasperating”

— Kerry Godliman, quoted by The Scotsman (UK national newspaper)

What this means: being re-cast by Gervais is a stronger signal than any public declaration of friendship. The work is the relationship.

Is Holly Godliman an actress?

Not based on any public record. The name Holly Godliman appears mainly in People Also Ask boxes, usually attached to Kerry’s surname. A normal search of film databases does not surface a notable actress by that name, and the repeated answer is that Holly is Kerry’s sister and works as a primary school teacher.

The catch: a wrong assumption can survive decades online. Holly may well be family, but “actress” is a job title, and the job title does not fit.

What is Kerry Godliman doing now?

She is on tour. The 2025–2026 run is built around a new stand-up show, with live dates promoted through her official website (Official website (Godliman’s own site)). Her recent screen credits — Our Girl, Trigger Point and We Live in Time — are listed in the snapshot above, so the answer to “what’s she been in lately” is not hard to find.

Where can I see Kerry Godliman perform?

• Tour tickets and dates are the first thing her official website promotes, with venues added as they confirm.
• For private or corporate bookings, her representation pages are the usual route.

Why this matters: the tour, not another series, is the clearest signal of what she wants to do next. The stage is where she still controls the creative direction.

What’s confirmed and what’s still unclear

The pattern: the confirmed facts come from documented sources; the unclear items are those Godliman has chosen not to address publicly.

Quotes and perspectives

“The controversy was exasperating”

— Kerry Godliman, quoted by The Scotsman (UK national newspaper)

“Down-to-earth observations about life, family and laziness”

— JLA, on Godliman’s stand-up style, JLA (UK speakers agency)

What this means: the quotes confirm that Godliman’s public identity is defined by her work, not by personal disclosures.

Why Kerry Godliman matters right now

British comedy has no shortage of stand-ups who can act, or actors who can do a stand-up set. Godliman is the rare case where both sides of the career pay for the other. The 2025–2026 tour is the clearest way to see the live side, and the After Life glow means the rooms will be full. For fans, the implication is simple: catch her live while the tour is running, or wait for the next script to remind everyone how good she is.

The implication: Godliman’s value in the current comedy landscape comes from her ability to move between screen and stage, with the tour as the live proof.
